Kyuss Worm by hero339 Kyuss Worm by hero339
This is my version of the Kyuss worm originally painted by Peter Bergting in Dragon Magazine 336. It was painted in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet.

I wonder what kind of fish could you catch with a Kyuss worm?

I'm sorry it took me a couple of weeks to say this, but it just occurs to me that it might just make an interesting book.

"The Necropolitan's Guide to Fishing". Would it be a dead sell? Or just sink?

You'd have to find the right pub-lich-ing company, but I bet it would sell. Let me "dig up" that first draft and see if we can make this work.

Hiya. They burrow into the flesh and creep towards the brain where they then destroy it. The victim dies and then returns to life a very short time later as a Kyuss Spawn. Vicious.

Do you mean what system am I playing? Pathfinder, so I convert everything over from the original Dungeon magazine adventure. Go here for some info that may help.

Kyuss is certainly an interesting god to follow and I liked how they made him an elder evil.

A lot cooler-looking, when they aren't attacking adventurers! I read the entry for them in the original Fiend Folio, and went, "Wow, staying away from those...".

Good job, you!

Yeah, these things are vicious. Some of the undead can fling worms at their foes, infecting them from a distance. YAHHHH!!!

Hey Ben,
My gaming group is currently playing the Age of Worms campaign from Dungeon magazine and I didn't have a digital version of the worm in the jar image to show the players. So, I opened my magazine and recreated it with a little of my own style.
How are things with you? I'm still working at the newspaper, getting up at 3:30 a.m. everyday. :)

I'm curious what drew you to re-create something someone else painted? It doesn't seem typical of you. Absolutely masterful work as always :D

Cool! I've just started plans for a D&D campaign about kyuss, but hadn't found any pictures of the individual worms. Anyway, great piece!

Hey, thanks for checking it out. I couldn't find any good images of the worms either, so that's why I recreated this one from the Dragon Magazine. These little monsters are so sinister! Good luck with your campaign.

Thanks! I'd been thinking of doing a "zombie apocalypse" type campaign for a while, but all the zombies. Then I found the spawn of Kyuss in MM3 (4th ed), and I think I'll probably use those. They're pretty creepy!

Thanks Mr. Hemenway. Wish the idea was mine, but I'll take praise where I can get it. :)
